Since I want cozy but stylish home instead of too modern and luxury one, I really like those homes, such as Paris or New York's small apartments in eighties or a Japanese two story house. These are adorable homes from my favorite movies, which are 'New York story', 'Stolen Kisses', 'Une Femme est femme', 'Suika' and 'the green ray'.

they are so classic and clean!So pretty within their own aura! Especially women from Eric Rohmer's movies always have a style.

this is my illustration work for fashion magazine nylon korea oct. issue.
I did pen drawing on a paper based on a map i found on Korean version of google map (Naver.com).
It was fun at first but then, i had to re-do it a lot to fix at the end!!!
Anyway, I am so happy to get the result.

12x12 canvas 에 아크릴 물감으로 흐르듯 블렌딩해서 배경색을 칠하고 그위에 검은색 자수 실로 자수를 놓아 여자아이 모양을 만들었다.
이렇게 페인트가 흐르는 듯한 느낌 너무 좋다.
여자아이 모티브는 일본 패션 카다로그에서 풍선껌 부는 여자의 무심한 표정을 보고 너무 마음에 들어 내 나름대로 변형 시켜서 나만의 소녀를 만들어 냈다...

헌옷과 남은 천들을 잘라서 만든 등
동그랗게 자른 광목 천을 여러겹 겹친 후 꿰매서 꽃을 만들어 붙였다.
꽃을 붙임으로 좀 더 페미닌하고 빈티지한 느낌을 주고 싶었다.
근데 오래 켜두면 안된다. 혼자 살때 이거 켜놓고 잠들었다가 밤에 천에 불 붙어서 다 태워먹을뻔 했음.....

소재는 cotton을 사용했다.

컨셉은 daily ritual, 매일매일하는 의식,제사 같은 것이라고 표현하면 대충 뜻이 맞을 것같다.
나의 daily ritual, 내가 매일 해야 하는 무의식중의 의식은 커피를 마시는 것이다.
그래서 내 데일리 리츄얼은 커피와, 커피를 마시는 다양한 사람들의 양상을 표현해 낸 것이다.
재료를 커피필터 종이를 써서 더 리얼하고 자연스러운 느낌을 주었다.
커피 필터같은 얇은 종이에 자수를 하는게 꽤 시간은 걸리지만 생각보다 어렵거나 힘들진 않았다.
재밌었다
원래 내 작품의 3분의 1크기로 줄여서 갤러리에 전시했다.

실크스크린으로 천 위에 찍어냈다.

I got the motif from a photograph of me and my little sister in Tokyo, 1990.
I added some dots and geometric lines onto the figures, which make the look little more vintage-like.
I love the outcome a lot. It's playful and fun to look at!


카드보드 위에 스크린 프린팅 (판화) 으로 찍어낸 후에 구조물로 조립했다.
세장의 카드보드 앞뒷면에 다 똑같은 사진의 판화를 찍어내고, 그 대신 지오메트릭한 라인과 땡땡이 무늬의 판화를 레이어드 해서 색다른 느낌을 주고 싶었다. 뭔가 촌스러운 듯 독특한 유머가 더해진 그런 느낌이랄까.
이거 보고 엄마는 본인 딸들인 줄도 못 알아보고 북한 여자애기 두명이 있다고 했다.
이 사진은 나랑 동생이랑 1990년 초에 일본에 가서 찍은 사진이다.

Patterns: motives from nature

I took pictures of trees and flower and altered the image by photo-shop.
I love to make a pattern out of flowers. They have their own patterns and color schemes, which are very beautiful.

토론토 대학 캠퍼스를 걸어가다가 단풍이 지고 있는 나무들의 사진을 찍어서 패턴으로 만들었다.
색깔이 자연스레 붉게 물드는 것이 참으로 예뻤다.
